Villa Pliniana is a magical place, full of charm and romanticism.

In the little town of Torno, Villa Pliniana is a magical place, full of charm and romanticism, where you can breathe the history and the glories of past times. The Villa was built in 1573 as will of the count Giovanni Anguissola around the spring by the same name that had already been mentioned during the 1st century A.C. by Pliny the Elder and Pliny the Younger. Over the years it has been the preferred destination of many well-known guests such as Percy Shelley, that left a description of the Villa, Gioacchino Rossini that there composed his Tancredi, and Napoleon, that is it said, played pool there in a pool table that still exists. Also Antonio Fogazzaro used it as the setting of his novel Molombra from which the director Mario soldato created the motion picture, by the same name, that was film inside the Villa in 1942. And many more famous artists visited the Villa such as Byron, Foscolo, Stendhal, Berchet, the musicians Liszt and Bellini, the scientists Volta, Spallanzani and Ghezzi but also royals such as Joseph II of Austria and Margherita of Savoy.

Today Villa Pliniana has been carefully restored to its original beauty. It is a dream on Lake Como with its 19 bedrooms in 4 big apartments in the main building, and 3 independent smaller villas and its 18 acres of beautiful gardens. The infinity pool gives the illusion to be swimming in the lake and in fact, the water does come from the lake, taken from about 50 meters from the surface and filtered.

It’s a true paradise for those who choose a 5 stars holiday, the perfect location for a wedding or a luxury event.
